...that Bisk was in Germany.

Which is really funny, because all 18 pageviews from last week also came from Germany, and only two were from me.
Anyways, I might not be here much for a while.

03 July 2011

...that imitation was the sincerest form of flattery.

Remember Zehra?
I promised a while ago that I'd try to draw something for her.
Then I got bored in class, so I did.
But I was too lazy to ever post it. Today, it will finally be introduced to the world!
I would like to mention that I put it in black and white and upped the contrast. It was black and white, but the lighting was weird in the room I took the picture in. Also, it's sitting on a suitcase, that's what's up with the background texture.

In case you can't read it, it says, "Imagine"...

...that Bisk was maybe a bit jealous?

Zehra made some AMAZING Sharpie shoes, which I'll link to once I'm not on an iPod. Anyways, I kind of wished I could reach through the screen and grab them.
Then, she got her cousin to make some, which were also amazing.
So yeah, Zehra iz arteest!
I want her shoes. I want her huge pack of Sharpies. And oh, do I want her talent. (Why did autocorrect change "want" to "Wang"?)
Zeeeeeehra. Sprinkle your magic artist dust on meeee?

...that Bisk had an awkward conversation.

Remember that boy I rejected once who I mentioned a few posts ago?
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah.
Just had an awkward awkward facebook conversation with him.
I usually have chat for everyone but my closest friends off. Today, I turned it on.
Three seconds later, a chat from him popped up.
We haven't talked since I rejected him, which was about a year ago. I don't even know if he still goes to my school, I don't see him ever.
Uhbluh.
Boys confuse me.

02 June 2011

...that Bisk hugged trees.

Through the lovely Gabi, I was introduced to the Carbon Neutral Blog Project. The idea of this is that you write a short post about the project, email it to them, and they'll plant a tree to combat the carbon released to power your blog, which I think is pretty great.
However, I don't know enough about the project to actually write about it, so I'm going to write about trees in general.
I love trees. They take in carbon dioxide, and release oxygen. They do have the minor drawback of having birds in them that like to poop on things, but I'd rather be alive and covered in poop than dead and clean. Once you're dead, it doesn't matter how much poop is on you, and we'd be dead if we didn't have oxygen. Trees also give us food in the form of delicious fruit. They give us shade. We chop them down and build our houses and write our essays on them. You blow your nose on a tree. Plants are the source of our life, and trees seem to be the plant that is the main contributor. Trees seem to have the most uses, and give us the most. In the story of Adam and Eve, they are told not to eat the fruit of the one tree. They eat it, and gain a knowledge of good and evil. Then they get kicked out of the Garden of Eden, and have babies. A tree is what gives them knowledge. I've heard many people say that what really separates us from other primates is our sense of right and wrong. If that's the case, and we accept the story of Adam and Eve as at least partially true, then we have trees to thank for our humanity.
If we prefer evolution, then we have tiny, photosynthesizing bacteria to thank for our atmosphere, which allowed evolution, which led to us.
However, we cannot just say that the world is for us. In the book Ishmael, the point is raised that humans think that the world was created for them and that evolution ended with them. Maybe it was created for us, it's really everyone's own opinion. But it is not just for us. We may be the ones who have built up cities and spread across the Earth, but we share it. We glorify ourselves for pushing the wild back, but we are beginning to push it back too far. Rainforests are uprooted in favor of farming and mining. We destroy oceans for oil to put in our cars to pollute the air with. By trying to better ourselves, we are destroying ourselves.
It's not just us being destroyed, though.
So many animals are being affected by changing climate, and we try to pretend that everything is okay. Right now, it is okay for us. But what about the polar bear who is losing habitat because the ice is melting? What about the sea turtle who has only female offspring, because the sand is too warm to produce any males? We just ignore them, because it's not affecting us yet.
But if we don't do something, it will.
We need to all be planting trees, and flowers and plants in general. Not because they're pretty, but because we need them. We need to combat carbon emissions, until someday we have enough trees that we can undo the damage we've done.
Ecuador is the only country that has environmental protection in its constitution. The rest of us need to start causing such a widespread effort. Political parties, trade, money, and the budget aren't going to matter if we don't do something now. Because if it is our world, we have to protect it, and if we don't, our mistakes will catch us soon.
And really, your parents probably wouldn't mind if you planted a tree in the yard. Shade is nice.

...that I slept a lot.

Not alot.
I've been out of school for a while. I'm supposed to be cleaning my house.
Guess how well that's going.
I need to put things in boxes and give things away and throw things away.
But instead, I sleep. Much of the morning.
And then I eat.
And then I go talk to you.
And occasionally, I might get a few things cleared up.
But not often.
While we're discussing my lack of motivation, have a picture of my bookshelf.

I know. You're jealous.

21 May 2011

...that this post was filled with spoilers.

So, yesterday after sacrament meeting, I was talking to some of my friends about the conclusion I've recently come to, which is that Harry Potter, if not already a Mormon, would be a really good one. As we were discussing this, someone (I think he was visiting from the stake...) overheard us, and told us that he'd once given a talk in stake conference about Harry Potter. Although he'd been talking specifically about the choice Harry made to be a Gryffindor rather than a Slytherin, and the Dumbledore quote about how choices matter more than abilities, he completely agreed with our theory. This honestly turned into a serious discussion. So, in the comments, discuss with me (please) Harry in general. And if you're Kevin, we can have long conversations about how he is TOTALLY Mormon.
(I started to write long explanations, then realised I didn't feel like it. Finals and all that.)

12 May 2011

...that Bisk filled a survey.

Name?
You can call me Ekaterina, Biskvitkaimlyako, Katya, Bisky, whatever...

Is your name on Blogger your name in real life? If not, what letter does your real name start with?
It's not my irl-name. My real name starts with whatever letter I want it to. Deal with it.

Astrological sign?Aries.

If there was a huge 'Blogspot Get-Together' where all bloggers were meant to come together and meet in real-life, would you go?

Only if the ones I'd want to meet were there.

Have you ever rejected someone?
Oh yes. In my defense, he asked me out via text.

If so, was it harshly?
I suppose it probably was, but he claimed that he just wanted to date me because he felt that being single made me uncool, not that he actually liked me.

Did they cry?
I don't know, this was all over text.

Have you ever tried a cigarette?
No. I'm Mormon. We don't roll that way.

Have you ever been high? If so, on what?
I'm always high on life.

What are six things you find attractive when in the opposite gender?
Edin: At least some intelligence, which rules out most of the boys in my school.
Dve: A sense of humor. I couldn't date someone like Percy Weasely.
Tri: Morals. I don't enjoy feeling pressured into doing things that I feel as wrong, especially not drinking/drugs. And I also don't want to be pressured into sex.
Chetiri: They have to be nice. This should probably be number one...
Pet: Although it's shallow of me, I find it attractive when people look nice. Sorry, I'm only human.
Shest: Well-groomed. Seriously, I don't want to smell your BO.
What are five things you find extremely unattractive in the opposite gender?
Eins: Being a bro.
Zwei: Not showering/grooming/taking care in appearance.
Drei: Excessive swearing.
Vier: Being overly demanding.
Fünf: Being generally rude.
Answer only if you have a sibling: If your sibling wasn't your sibling, do you think you'd ever find him/her attractive and go out with him/her?
EW NO.

Would you ever eat a caterpillar?
See my answer to the last question...

Would you rather kiss a random stranger on the street of the opposite gender or tickle a random stranger on the street of the opposite gender?
That depends. Old or young?

Would you rather throw up on stage or fart on stage?
Fart. I'm quiet about it, if you wanted to know.

Would you ever sneak out of the house at night?
There's nowhere to sneak to.

Which five bloggers will you be tagging to take this survey as well?
Larlar.

18 April 2011

...that Bisk felt silly.

It's normal, don't worry! :D
Also!

06 April 2011

...that Bisk attempted to predict the future.

I'm almost completely sure that a certain Splogger is going to blog about a certain Boy Who Lived. Which means it's okay that I didn't.
However, I don't think jetpacks work at Hogwarts.
But it'll still be awesome.

29 March 2011

...that Bisk ranted slightly.

If you choose to wear a hijab, that's okay.
If you choose to wear short shorts, that's also okay.

If you choose to wear a hijab and short shorts at the same time, that's your business and not mine. However, you shouldn't Be loudly talking about how modestly dressed you are when your shorts barely cover your underwear.

(I don't know anyone who has been to this extreme, but I have seen some...interesting...clothing combinations lately.)

21 February 2011

...that Bisk gave up, again.

Harry Potter month isn't working out.
But you should still read the books, if you haven't already.

You should suggest things for me to do!

15 February 2011

...that Bisk's exercise habits became sort of awesome!

So, today, I discovered a new skill.
This one will take some explanation. Most of our doorways are normal, but we have a few that are closer to a two-foot wide doorway, and have flat wall things.
I just realised that I can climb those flat wall things.
You push your back against one, and kick a foot up on the other. Then you have to bring the other foot up, which is kind of scary. But after that, you can just scoot yourself up the wall. It's actually quite comfortable.
The bad news is, you need some friction to do this, so it's easiest with shoes. The reason this is bad news is that, for some reason, mothers don't seem to love having footprints on their walls.
Whatever. It's fun! And I'm sure it's not a bad workout...

10 February 2011

...that Bisk went slightly crazy.

Bleeeeeeeeeeh.
I feel like I haven't slept in forever.
That wasn't hyperbole.
Also, I may have started to think in iambic pentameter.
New post sometime this century.

06 February 2011

...that Bisk read and blogged Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone.

Already, I'm late.
But yes, here it is. Book one. Where the adventure began. I remember reading this as a little kid...
The story begins with Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, a boring couple, and their unpleasant young son, Dudley. They live in fear that someone will discover their dark secret, Mrs. Potter, who is Mrs. Dursley's sister. And Mr. Dursley, one day, hears whispers about someone who might be his nephew.
That night, an odd assortment of people leave the Dursley's nephew, one-year-old Harry Potter, on the doorstep.
Ten years later, Harry is living in the closet under the stairs. He wears fat Dudley's old clothes and has a generally miserable existence. It's Dudley's birthday, and the old lady who babysits Harry usually has a broken leg. So Harry comes to the zoo, despite bratty Dudley's protests. It's not bad, until he starts having a conversation with a snake, and the glass disappears, and the snake gets loose. Harry is punished by going to his cupboard for a long time.
He finally gets out sometime during the summer holidays. Someone sends him a mysterious letter, Uncle Vernon (Mr. Dursley) takes it. The letter sender is very persistent and creative, and the Dursleys and Harry end up on a tiny island in the middle of a huge storm. At exactly midnight, Harry turns eleven, and an enormous man shows up. His name is Hagrid, he works at Hogwarts. Harry has no idea what he's talking about. Hagrid is not happy about this, but explains that Harry is a wizard, and that his parents were killed by Lord Voldemort, not in a car crash. The Dursleys get mad, Hagrid gives Dudley a pig tail.
The next morning, Harry and Hagrid go to London to shop for his school supplies. They go through a small bar, where everyone is honoured to meet Harry, into Diagon Alley. It's amazing and lovely, Harry gets all his things, his wand is connected to Voldemort's, Hagrid gives him an owl, etc.
Harry goes to King's Cross on September 1st, he can't find the correct platform. He meets a lovely, large family, the Weasleys, and they help him get to Platform 9 and 3/4. He boards the train, he goes to Hogwarts. He's sorted into Gryffindor, where dwell the brave in heart.
His classes are difficult, but get better once he learns the basics. His main enemy is Draco Malfoy, a Slytherin, who he met in Diagon Alley, and who is a buttface. At the first flying lesson, a boy named Neville breaks his wrist falling off his broom. Once the teacher has left with Neville, Malfoy steals one of Neville's things. He flies away with it, Harry chases him and catches it. Professor McGonagall sees, but puts him on the Gryffindor quidditch team instead of punishing him.
McGonagall gets Harry the very best broomstick there is, a Nimbus Two Thousand. First years usually aren't allowed to have broomsticks, but Harry is because he's on the team. This makes Malfoy mad, he challenges Harry to a duel.
Harry sneaks out with Ron to the duel, Hermione (a girl who's been following them around being bossy) and Neville follow them. Malfoy's not there, but he's told Filch, the caretaker who is eager to punish anyone who does anything wrong. They hide from him in a locked room that is supposed to be off limits. There's a three headed dog in there, which Hermione points out, is standing on a trapdoor.
Later, Ron is criticizing Hermione, and she overhears. She hides in the bathrooms. That night, a troll is let in. Harry and Ron go to save Hermione, and fight off the troll, saving her life.
Harry plays in his first quidditch match. He is the Seeker, so he must catch the Golden Snitch. I'll explain quidditch later. During the match, he loses control of his broom. Hermione is sure that Professor Snape is jinxing him. She sets his robes on fire, and Harry regains control. He nearly swallows the Snitch, but Gryffindor wins.
Stuff crucial to the plot but too detailed for me to talk about here happens. If you haven't read the book, go read it. Anyways...
Hagrid has a baby dragon, but he needs to get rid of it. Ron's brother Charlie works with dragons in Romania, they smuggle Norbert (the dragon) up to give to Charlie. Malfoy knows, tells McGonagall, they all get in trouble. They go into the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid. Something is killing the unicorns, Harry sees a cloaked figure drinking unicorn blood.
Time passes...
Harry figures out that the three-headed dog is guarding the Sorcerer's Stone, which creates the Elixir of Life.  Harry thinks that Snape is trying to steal the stone. He, Ron, and Hermione go to stop him, Neville attempts to stop them. They get past him, and work through the defenses, but Harry is the only one who makes it to the final room. In there, he finds not Snape, but Professor Quirrel, a timid professor. Also there is the Mirror of Erised, which he saw his parents in before. He gets the stone from looking in the Mirror, Quirrel reveals that he has Voldemort sprouting out of his head. But he can't touch Harry, Harry gets out, Gryffindor wins the house cup, yay!

I'll post quotes and stuff eventually. I left out a lot of detail, but if you haven't already read the book, you really should.

Biskvitka I Mlyako and the Copyright Law

So, you may have noticed that Harry Potter has yet to even begin to be blogged. This is mainly because I'm lazy.
But I've been checking copyright law, and as far as I can find, this plan is legal. It's an unpaid review, so I think it's okay to use quotes. There'll probably be spoilers, but if you haven't already read Harry Potter, you shouldn't be reading my reviews/blogs/musings/whatever. Also, for anyone who didn't know, Harry Potter and all of the characters and quotes discussed are the work of JK Rowling.
So I think this is fine to do. If you have the rights to Harry Potter (I am in awe of your presence if you do) and think that there's a problem with what I'm doing or want it removed, please contact me. If you can prove that you actually are who you say you are, I'll be happy to comply, although I would appreciate an explanation, so that I know how to avoid similar situations in the future.
I'll probably have book 1 up tomorrow. We haven't even really begun, and already, we're behind.

29 January 2011

I make bad decisions when I'm tired.

This post actually isn't about the habit I'm forming of sleeping in class. No, this is about my stupidest idea yet.
I'm declaring February _Harry Potter_ month. (I get the feeling that won't underline for me...)
The goal is for me to reread all seven books and discuss them on my blog, in order, one every four days to fill up the month.
In reality, we'll be lucky to finish by the end of this century. :D
Oh well. At the very least, it will be an adventure.

10 January 2011

Some things just make me giggle...

For example, the phrase "man cave".
It sounds like something out of Batman. Seriously:
Robin: To the Bat Cave?
Batman: No! It's still full of guano from last week.
Robin: So where are we going?
Batman: The...MAN CAVE!
